This melts my heart...

This morning Tom and Charlie were playing while I ate breakfast. When I returned, this is what I walked in to see my boys doing. Charlie is fighting a cold (runny nose, fever, cough) so this extra sleep was a welcome moment for both dad and son .

Random shots from nine months

Charlie still loves his johnny jump up. He plays in this often now in the morning so Tom can take a shower before work.


He loves to play on the rug in our front room. His favorite toy right now is paper and a helium balloon. He lugs that baloon everywhere if we let him.

Grandma Patsy and Grandpa Bud came to visit. This overlapped with a brief visit from Aunt Kristin. I only got a cute shot with Grandma Patsy.

He won't look up when he is crawling. Here he is with his balloon.

I had to inlcude this picture with Tom. Don't they clash nicely? This is an infamous sweater that Tom pulls out every once in a while. Charlie doesn't seem to mind.

Aquarium with Nonnie and Boppa

My parents came to town to get a Charlie fix and then my mom stayed and looked after Charlie for a few days. She is a super Nonnie! While they were here, we (minus Tom) took Charlie to the Aquarium for the first time. Here is us getting ready to go into the aquarium. This is the first tank and Charlie was interested!

We then moved on and Boppa showed him the touch and feel section. Although it looks like he is having a good time, he is actually crying. He didn't like touching the water one bit.

Charlie then spent most of his time sitting in his stroller until we got to the dome where the fish were all around us. He loved looking at the fish and telling his grandparents all about his excitment.

Food, food, glorious food

I can't believe it has almost been a month since I posted. Time flies with Charlie. This past month has had amazing moments - he now has three teeth, is a full on crawler and loves to share he new found love of chatter. We have also had a few more challenges and adjustments. Charlie now attends a home daycare with several other children. We are just starting to get in the swing of this and he seems to really enjoy all the kids around him three days a week. Now, the biggest challenge has been that at his nine month appointment we learned he has fallen off the growth curve for height and gone down in weight. We go back to the doctor on March 18th to remeasure him and hope he has grown! Because of his struggles with food intake we have gone to a Pediatric Speech Therapist to give us some pointers on helping Charlie learn how to eat.

As you can see - he likes his spinach! I know you are waiting at the edge of your seat to find out what foods he does like to eat now. I can tell you milk isn't his favorite. That is our one struggle still. His favorites are: roasted fruits (bananas, peaches, pears, apples) with cinnamon, roasted red peppers with goat cheese, oatmeal, plain yogurt, spinach, broccoli, and zucchini. Things he isn't fond of: potatoes (white or sweet), carrotts, squash, and pretty much any other grain (unless mommy can disguise it really well in fruit). Tom finds this interesting as he grew up on meat and potatoes and didn't eat green veggies. His son is the opposite at this point!

First Tooth

Well, Charlie has has his first tooth. After tons of drool, crankiness, and a bit of crying, his first tooth came in two weeks ago. I have been trying to get a photo, but it is very hard just to get a finger in to look. Here is as close as I can get. As you can see, there is no tooth in the pictures!

Emmett and Charlie love to play!

Charlie loves to have his friend Emmett over. Although Charlie is a little older, Emmett is crazy busy crawling and standing up. Here are a few shots from Emmett and Charlie playing. This day Charlie kept chasing Emmetts hands for some reason. He also enjoyed his first snack of apple. He couldn't bite it, but just got some of the juice. He is like his momma, he loves the tart apples!
